For Better Indoor Air Quality This Summer

Better indoor air quality

With summer just a few short weeks away at this point, many of us are already feeling the heat, and while there are many people who love getting outside and enjoying some fun in the sun, there are many more that like to spend a good deal of their time inside and out of the blazing summer heat. With so many homeowners and their families spending a good deal of their time in the comfort of their homes, it is important to ensure that you are maintaining a healthy environment in your home, and your indoor air quality is a very important factor in doing so. The ratio of airborne pollutants can be much denser inside your home compared to outside, and that can present you and your family with a very serious health hazard if you aren't careful. To ensure you have what you need to keep the indoor air quality of your home at its best, our Coral Springs air conditioning experts have taken the time to put together this short list containing several helpful tips you can use to help you and your family breathe a little bit easier in your home this summer.

Keep Your Floors Clean

With everyone constantly coming and going in and out of the house this summer, your floors can collect a lot of dirt, dust, and other debris at an alarming rate. Things like pollen, dirt, and a number of other allergens are getting tracked into your home on a near-constant basis, and that can do a real number on the indoor air quality of your home. One of the most important things you can do for your home this summer is to ensure you are regularly cleaning your floors, especially in the case of carpets as they tend to trap these allergens down in your floor where they can continually get circulated through your home.

Get Your Ducts Cleaned

You would be surprised at just how much dirt, dust, and other contaminants can settle in your air ducts over time, and if it has been a while since you have had your air ducts professionally cleaned, all of those airborne contaminants are likely just being circulated throughout your home by your air conditioning system for you and your family to breathe in. If it has been a while since you had someone come in and take a look at the state of your home's air ducts, give our team of indoor air quality experts a call and let us give your ducts a thorough cleaning to eliminate all of those potentially harmful buildups so you and your family can have peace of mind.

Make Sure Your Air Filters Are Clean

Your air filters are an incredibly aspect of your home's indoor air quality. They are designed to trap and filter out potentially harmful particles before they make their way into your home's HVAC system to be pumped back through your home, but if your air filters are overly dirty, they won't be able to perform their function like they should, and can even cause a great deal of unnecessary strain on your air conditioning system. Make sure that you are either replacing your disposable air filters, or cleaning your permanent ones, at least once every two to three months, or anytime you see that they have accumulated too much dirt and dust. Keeping fresh filters in place will go a long way towards helping filter out the potentially harmful particles in the air of your home.
